Beeple Shocks the World Again at Art Basel
Art Basel Miami was the hottest spot in the world for art over the weekend, but it was the NFT artists who stole the spotlight.
- TMZ, AP, ABC, WSJ, and other mainstream media outlets covered Beeple’s shocking Regular Animals art display that featured robot dogs “pooping” out AI generated photos, some as NFTs.
- The robot dogs featured the faces of Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, and Beeple. Each printed out AI interpreted photos according to their training, which match each person's personality.
- In total, the physical photo collection numbered 1024 editions, while the NFT collection was capped at 256.
- The NFTs and prints were given out randomly to attendees, and NFTs sold on secondary markets for 5 - 12
ETH.
- Beeple has reserved 10 of the Regular Animals NFTs to give away in an online contest, with details
coming soon.
- Other major artists with displays at Art Basel include Jack Butcher with his Self Checkout display
and XCOPY’s Bubbles, which saw over 2 million NFTs minted.
A Bridge Between Blockchains
Base has launched a new bidirectional bridge between Solana and Base,
allowing interoperability between the two networks.
- The Base - Solana bridge was launched on December 4 and is powered by Chainlink’s CCIP and Coinbase validators.
- Builders and users of each blockchain can move assets across chains, enabling Solana tokens to be used on Base platforms (and vice-versa), and to access shared liquidity pools across ecosystems.
- Base apps like Aerodrome, Zora, Virtuals, Flaunch, and Relay have already integrated the Base-Solana bridge.
- A heated debate between Solana founders and Base’s founder erupted over claims that the chain is
really an attempt to pull liquidity from Solana to Base, not foster building cross-chain.
Solana Seeker Phone Vulnerability Spotted
The Solana Seeker smartphone, the most widely adopted crypto phone, has a major crypto vulnerability that was uncovered last week.
- On December 3rd, Ledger revealed a major flaw in the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chipset.
- An attacker with physical access to the device can use Electromagnetic Fault Injection to bypass security checks during boot. This can lead to private keys being exposed along with full device takeover.
- The vulnerability is unpatchable due to it being in the chip’s boot ROM, and can only be fixed via replacement.
- 150,000+ Seeker phones are affected by the vulnerability, along with various Android devices.
- Solana Mobile has made no statements about the compromise, but one is expected soon before their upcoming token claim in January.
Crypto for Kids
Binance revealed a new product called Binance Junior, which is aimed at parents who want to help onboard their children to crypto.

- Parents can fund their child’s Junior account via their main Binance account, or transfer crypto from external wallets.
- Juniors is for children aged 6-17, and kids 13+ can initiate limited transfers within the Binance ecosystem (other Junior accounts, and parents’ accounts).
- Daily transfer limits are capped at $400 between Junior accounts.
- No transfers are allowed to non parental accounts.
