x402 Explodes and AI Agent Hype Returns

x402 was the talk of crypto over the past week as the old protocol’s revival ignites a new wave of speculation on AI tokens. 

• The x402 payment protocol was created and launched by Coinbase in May.

• x402 allows payments to be made by humans and AI agents via API calls using USDC, and other tokens.

• The new protocol is a revival of an old 402 protocol on HTTP that never found adoption. AI agents have given it a major use case.

• While ACP and other AI economies may be part of the agentic economy, x402 is thought to be the missing scaling component.

• Transactions on x402 soared over 7.2K% in the past week, and x402 volume climbed 81.4K% to $1.72M.

• AI agents are expected to spend or influence over $30T in purchases by 2030, with x402 mentioned as a major payment path.

• Traders are speculating on just about any token for projects that utilize x402, pushing the current x402 token market cap (combining all tokens categorized x402) to $859M.

ApeFest Rocked, but BAYC NFTs Drop?

The BAYC annual ApeFest in Las Vegas last week brought major announcements and vibes, but their NFT prices have fallen to a 4 year low.

• The official Bored Ape Clubhouse in Miami will begin construction in January and open later in 2026.

• Bored Ape Studios was announced and will create a major animation for the world’s biggest streaming platforms.

• Amazon Gaming is coming to the Otherside metaverse via a limited edition Voyager avatar. It will launch on a dedicated Amazon brand store in the Otherside.

• Daniel Arsham is also releasing a fine art Voyager avatar, limited to just 300 editions.

• The team launched a new OtherdeedStrategy token on Token.Works which will buy Otherdeed NFTs, $APESTR, and $PNKSTR.

• BAYC NFT prices have fallen -10.8% in the past 7d to 6.5 $ETH, and have the community questioning what can now drive value to any NFT collection.

MegaETH’s MEGA Presale.

MegaETH’s long awaited presale has started, and it’s shaping up to be one of the largest onchain token sales ever.

• MegaETH is an Ethereum L2 blockchain that boasts close to real-time performance with over 100,000 tps. 

• The chain is created by Lei Yang (ex Facebook), and Yilong Li, with MegaLabs developing the entity.

• Major investors in the chain include Vitalik Buterin, Peter Thiel, and Dragonfly Capital.

• The $MEGA token presale on Echo (recently purchased by Coinbase for $375M) is offering 500M tokens via an English Auction, starting at a $1M FDV valuation and climbing to $999M FDV.

• Buyers could register for the presale until 10/26, and commit $2,650 to $186,282 for tokens that will be locked for 1 year.

• The presale currently has $566.58M committed with a hypothetical FDV of $11.33B.

The AI market is up +3.52% in the past 7 days to a $15.91B market cap thanks to excitement from the x402 meta. Top token movers include CLANKER (+305.6%), VIRTUAL (+84.13%), BNKR (+65.15%), AIXBT (+54.11%) and TIBBIR (+27.61%).

• Virtuals shares details of their SeeSaw app usage of the iPhone’s LiDAR and IMUs.

• PredictBase launches live odds on its ai powered prediction market platform.

• Backroom revealed a new partnership with Aerodrome to power their ICM Incubator platform. 

•  AIXBT integrates the x402 protocol for platforms and agents to tap into his agentic alpha.

• Arbus announces Arbus Robotics Frontier (ARF), bringing onchain and mindshare data to robots.

• OpenServ integrates Dome’s prediction market API to power agent reactive intelligence.

NFTs

• NFT sales fell -9.12% to $135.99M, with sellers falling -5.75%, buyers -1.01%, and trade profits up 4.77%, though still negative at -$6.11M.

• The week’s biggest sales include CryptoPunk #8404 for 100 $ETH ($413K), Pudgy Penguin #7980 for 31.87 $ETH ($123K), and BAYC #7018 for 20 $ETH ($78K). 24 of the top 25 NFT sales were CryptoPunks, selling for 37.79 $ETH ($148K) or higher.

• Reid Hoffman reveals that he purchased a hoodie CryptoPunk over the summer.

• Pudgy Penguins announced another massive partnership, this time with Kung Fu Panda to release NFT stickers on Telegram.

• Magic Eden raised over $1M on Solana and Ethereum NFT pack sales, beating total NFT sales volume on the platform. Collectors are cracking packs with the hopes of hitting grail NFTs like a Pudgy Penguin, Mad Lad, XCOPY, and more.
